Holidays and Heroes

OK, so I don't do skeletons and witches or spookiness for Halloween, but I will do Ghosties...as least the cookie kind. Yesterday I did this little crafty cooking time with the girls so Mommy could get a little R&R.

This is my kind of kitchen time. Store bought Nutter-Butter cookies...they are in a ghost shape, don't you think? Then a can of vanilla frosting and some mini-chocolate chips, four willing bakers and a large counter top. Mix it all together and this is what you get.

Hazie & Julia

Chloe & Piper

I know, I know... not exactly
Public Health Standards...sorry about that!

Stretch!

I Got it!

Happy Times!

P.S. Spencer, whenever I even mention peanuts or peanut butter cookies, I feel sad and at the same time so proud of you and your courage and bravery in all your struggles with your food allergies. And I feel so happy that your wonderful Mom and Dad have so many ways of adapting everything to help overcome this trial in your life. Perhaps Mom can convert this recipe somehow to make it available to you. I love you with all of my heart and respect you so much for the way you have taken power over this affliction and been so obedient. You truly are my hero! I love you with all of my heart! Gramma

Jump Rope Anyone?

This is absolutely amazing and fun! If at first you don't succeed, try try again. I think you kids are going to love this. When something seems so hard and nearly impossible...just keep trying. It will become easier for you. The thing doesn't get easier~you just get better!

The Jump Rope Dance

These kids entertained during half-time at an

Army/Navy Basketball Game in Ohio
. They are absolutely amazing.
The fact that these girls learned the routines is hard to believe.
but the fact that they executed them without a single noticeable
mistake is totally unbelievable! Enjoy!

Julia's Halloween Poem

From Aunt Jen's Blog...

The Halloween Poem

Little kids looking for ghosts.
Witches flying over posts.
There is a skeleton walking
while other kids are screaming and talking.
There is a jack-o-lanter floating
while detectives and thinking and noting.

Seriously, how do our children turn out so much more brilliant than we were at their age? She wrote this on her own, this morning, just for fun--not at school or with any prompting. I've never written a spontaneous poem in my life! She is 9.
